Gucci Mane just can’t seem to avoid problems these days. The troubled ATL rapper is already incarcerated, and now comes word that he’s among the defendants named on a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from his protégé Slim Dunkin’s murder. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday (December 11) in Fulton County State Court.
The complaint was filed by Mark Hamilton, the father of slain rapper Mario “Slim Dunkin” Hamilton, who as we previously reported was shot to death in an east Atlanta recording studio in December 2011. The 24-year-old rapper was murdered as he prepared to shoot a music video with Gucci Mane (born Radric Davis).
Rapper Young Vito (born Vinson Hardimon) was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and gun possession charges for shooting Slim Dunkin, but a jury acquitted the 29-year-old Vito of murder and felony murder charges. He was later sentenced to 25 years in prison. The killing reportedly started from an argument over candy.
In addition to Gucci Mane, ABC Corp., Warner Brothers Music International and others are named in the wrongful death lawsuit. It’s unclear why Slim Dunkin’s father is suing Gucci Mane, who is currently in jail in DeKalb County on gun charges and faces federal gun charges and aggravated assault charges in Fulton County. If convicted Gucci could face more than 20 years in prison.
