Can A Thon Majic

Source: Provided / Radio One Atlanta

Join us for the 34TH Annual Holiday Can-A-Thon with 11 Alive, Publix and the Salvation Army, Friday December 2nd at Turner Field (Gold Lot), 5am-1pm.

The food donated in Atlanta is collected and sorted thoroughly at our warehouse. The food is then distributed evenly among 13 food pantries in metro Atlanta. Our goal is to collect enough cans to stock our pantries for a year. The Salvation Army supplements their ongoing need with other fundraising events in order to ensure the pantries are filled.

The following items needed are:

  • Pop- Top Cans: These are easier for individuals who do not have stable housing equipped with kitchen utensils.
  • Canned Meats: Canned ham, tuna, corned beef can be the staple of a healthy meal.
  • Canned Fruits: We are often short on these items. These can often serve as dessert after a meal and appeal to children.
  • Canned Vegetables:  Green vegetables are always good for pregnant mothers and children. Vegetables without salt are very useful for those with Diabetes.
  • Dry Goods: pasta, beans, crackers, oatmeal, grits are filling foods that provide energy to families who have to work multiple jobs to make ends meet.

Start those can collections and post your photos!  We want to keep up with your progress and encourage others to collect! For more info, click HERE

Post on social media using #Canathon or #ICAN.
