Angelina Jolie went from having a seemingly perfect life and family, to having it all be threatened.

According to the Daily Mail, the biological mother of her adopted Ethiopian daughter, Zahara, reached out to the Oscar-winning actress with a major plea: to see her child again. Mentewab Dawit Lebiso told reporters she is desperate to be part of her 12-year-old daughter’s life and revealed that she called Angelina for a chance to get custody of her daughter amid her controversial split with Brad Pitt.

Lebiso claims she pleaded to Jolie, “Please just let me talk to my daughter. I just want her to know that I am alive and here and long to be able to speak with her. I do not want my daughter back but just to be in contact with her and be able to call her up and talk with her.”

The poverty-stricken mom, who also spoke out in 2007 to say she wanted her daughter back despite the adoption being final, had more to say about the iconic actress. She continued, “Angelina has been more of a mother to her than I have ever been. She has been with her since she was a baby, but that does not mean I do not miss her … I miss her all the time. I think about her every day and long to hear her voice or see her face.”

Angelina has yet to speak out about Zahara’s mom, but judging by the way she handled the divorce news going public, she may not ever say a word about this situation.
