Earlier today Hip Hop mogul, Russell Simmons announced that he has sold his prepaid debit card service, Rushcard to its competitor Green Dot for $147 Million Dollars!
The Rushcard service began back in 2003 to help consumers monitor their spending without the worry of massive banking fees.
Although Simmons has not stated why he sold Rushcard, its new owner, Steve Streit stated that the product name will remain the same.
“Having his name associated with RushCard is a big reason why we are buying it,” Streit said in an interview.
