Rachel Lindsay is making history as ABC’s first Black lead of The Bachelorette franchise.

Along with being a pioneer comes the pressure of dealing with all of the unknown (and  potentially awkward) interactions to come. That was case for Lindsay on her first night meeting the contestants.

A white guy named Dean, wanted to let her know that he’s all for interracial dating, but his delivery was as strange as it gets. He said to the star, “I’m ready to go Black and I’m never going to go back.” Rachel did what most women would do after hearing an uncomfortable pick up line — laugh, pretend it was funny and hope he walks away.

The Bachelorette returns to ABC Monday, May 22. Check out the clip above.
