Gucci Mane isn’t gonna let a little thing like being in jail for a year for violating probation keep him from putting out new mixtapes.

Despite being on lockdown in the Fulton County jail since November, Gucci managed to record several new verses for his new mixtape, The Burrprint 2 HD, over the phone.

Gucci’s collaborator for this mixtape, DJ Holiday, spoke with MTV News about recording Gucci Mane’s vocals over the phone.

You know how Shyne was locked up and you’d get a freestyle from the phone? I said, ‘Let’s take it another step.’ We recorded him rapping on the phone in the mic … and went from there. Then we matched it with the beat Drumma Boy made. It came out crazy, and it sounds good too.
