Born John Lotts in Tallulah, Louisiana, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, as a teenager. The challenges of his upbringing became the foundation for his music, which resonates with fans for its honesty and grit.

Big Boogie began his music career in 2017, releasing his debut mixtape Definition of Pain. His talent caught the attention of Memphis rap mogul Yo Gotti, who signed him to Collective Music Group (CMG) in 2020. This marked a turning point in Boogie’s career, allowing him to reach a wider audience. His CMG debut, Final Nightmare, showcased his ability to blend tough street narratives with catchy beats.

It was his 2021 album, Underrated, that propelled Big Boogie to mainstream success.
