While "American Idol" will be giving back next week, Alicia Keys will be giving out her advice to the remaining seven "Idol" hopefuls on Tuesday night's show. Keys will mentor the contestants on "inspirational" songs, in keeping with the week's charitable theme.

The Commander-In-Chief and his wife will be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of Fox's "American Idol." Barack and Michelle Obama filmed their appearance on the show on Wednesday for the show's annual "Idol Gives Back" episode.

Attorney Leron Rogers of the Hewitt & Rogers law firm has filed a lawsuit against Larry Platt, whose song “Pants on the Ground” made him an overnight celebrity after he performed it as an “American Idol” audition.

TMZ.com is reporting that “General” Larry Platt is taking his “Pants on the Ground” phenomenon to Las Vegas. Platt, who made national news when he sang “Pants on the Ground” on “American Idol,” is scheduled to perform his song at the Mirage Hotel this weekend.

At the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif., American Idol judge Simon Cowell announced that he is leaving the show to focus on a new talent search, The X Factor. “The X Factor will launch in 2011,” said Cowell. “Because of that, this will be my last season on American Idol.”
