I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! Its Black Friday and everyone was out late and stayed up to make their Christmas gift rounds.  Many stores this year opened lines early to wait for the Black Friday deals but some still did not get the best deals. Check out some of the news surrounded by Black friday.

Crowds But No Violence At Black Friday Locations in Atlanta Area

ATLANTA (WAOK) — Crowds taking advantage of Black Friday deals around Atlanta were heavy but orderly overnight Thursday into Friday morning. Area malls reported crowds beginning at 8 pm Thursday night when many malls opened. At Lenox Mall thousands of people were on hand for the annual Christmas tree lighting. Once the celebration ended hundreds of people rushed into the mall to take advantage of Black Friday deals. There were no incidents of violence reported in any Atlanta area malls on Thursday night or Friday morning however, that was not the case in other areas around the country.

According to the Associated Press, police in Chicago say an officer responding to a shoplifting report at a Chicago area store Thanksgiving evening shot the driver of a car that was dragging another officer outside. The incident happened in suburban Romeoville. Police say one officer chased a man who ran from a Kohl’s store Thursday night and jumped in the car’s passenger seat. The officer was only partly in the car when the driver pulled off, and the officer was dragged for a distance.  Another officer fired two or three shots when the driver refused orders to stop, wounding the driver in the shoulder. The dragged officer was also injured. Two people in the car and a third in the store were arrested.

Earlier Thursday shopping hours on Thursday lead to much lighter crowds at stores and area malls on Friday morning.
