Last month, a Zion, Ill. police officer fatally shot 17-year-old Justus Howell in the back — and like many of the recent incidents involving police brutality, it was captured on camera. Despite the footage, Lake County prosecutors announced that the officer who shot Howell will not face any criminal charges. State Attorney Mike Nerheim claims that after investigating the incident, the shooting was justified. “Officer Hill provided Howell ample opportunity to drop the weapon, and only fired when he felt that his life and the life of his fellow officer was in danger. These are the facts. Justus Howell was armed and dangerous. For those reasons Officer Hill was in fear for his life, and acted reasonably and justifiably to protect himself and his fellow officer,” said Nerheim. Toni Braxton Says “Empire” Accurately Depicts the Music Business

FOX’s hit show Empire dominated the television ratings ever since its debut. According to songstress Toni Braxton, one of the reasons why the show is so successful is because it captures the essence of what really goes on in the music business. “It’s the record business circa, let’s say, 1996 to 2005. That’s exactly how it was. Exactly,” Braxton said during a recent interview. “Not the talent part, [but] the music business. How it’s about sales and how… the talent is always important, but the sales [are] how the talent stays out there. Roc Nation Sports and BET Team Up to Enter Boxing Realm

On the heels of the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao match, Jay Z‘s Roc Nation Sports and BET are reportedly teaming up to air live boxing matches in the next 18 months. “It’s more than just boxing, it’s more than a sporting event, and that’s why we went into it… one of our goals is to approach the personalities of the fighters and the in-between-rounds of entertainment differently than it’s been approached on television before,” said Stephen G. Hill, BET’s President of Original Programming. “We hope the numbers will show that viewers want more, and once we find there’s an interest, we’ll pull this thread as far as it can go… we want to present sports you’re familiar with, in new ways.” Read more.
