Remember back in the day when you had a crush and you’d pass notes to him in class with the question, “Do you like me?” accompanied by the “yes,” “no,” and “maybe” boxes? Those were the days, because apparently, these days you can do that anymore.

A fourth grader in Tampa passed a love note to his classmate, praising her eyes that “sparkle like diamonds,” according to WPTV. Things got out of hand when his other classmates discovered he was sending the notes and made fun of him. Students began to pick on the boy, saying he wanted to see his crush naked.

Due to the comments, school officials deemed the notes inappropriate, and threatened to file sexual harassment charges against the nine-year-old.

“That’s when the principal proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t appropriate that he was writing the note and that if he writes another note, they are going to file sexual harassment charges on my 9-year-old,” the unidentified mother said.

“He’s 9,” she continued. “What little kid doesn’t write love notes?”

Good question.
