While Tupac’s biopic has seen many roadblocks, USA Network has ordered a pilot about the infamous rapper’s murder. Named Unsolved, the drama will chronicle the police investigations of Tupac and Biggie‘s deaths, and is based on the experiences of former LAPD Detective Greg Kading.
Kading will also serve as a consultant and co-executive producer of the show. Aside from leading several task forces about the murders, he also authored a book titled “Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations.”
Biggie Smalls was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March of 1997. Six months later on September 7, 1997, Tupac Shakur was also fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Both murders remain officially unsolved, with many assuming their involvement in the East Coast-West Coast rivalry in the mid ’90s was to blame — much of which will be discussed in the show.
