From Creative Loafing:

It looked like Hollyweerd was in the right place last Friday as the Dreamer himself claims he’s from Stank, Ga. The crowd and host, Maurice Garland, were more than ready for the foursome to get on the mic and perform at OutKast’s Stankonia recording studio in Atlanta.

The Inside the Music series is just about the first of its kind in the ATLien studio, with the Royal Flush production duo providing an intimate experience for the fans and new supporters alike to get up-close and personal with local artists and their music. The city has seen Hollyweerd’s growth through performance, so they were bound to pack out the place, along with Cyhi Da Prince, the Redland and DJ Jamad.

As the ceiling lights were lowered, neon blue and green lights were placed at the sides of the performance area. A drummer kicked off the fog entrance and four guys jumped in the front of the crowd. Everyone knew the words to the motivational “Hold On,” catchy sex tune “Have You Ever Made Love to A Weerdo,” and their swagger joint “SupaEasy.” Performing other tracks, Stagolee brought out the saxophone a number of times and you could tell the audience enjoyed the mix of talent. Even the silly barbershop quartet dancing from Dreamer, Chris, and Tuki added comedy to the already hype show. Their set was cut short so if you wanted to hear another SMKA cut or the new Big Pooh collab, it wasn’t happening.

Next month in the series, you can expect an even more diverse range of artists.
