The Sweet Auburn Festival was held this past weekend and Radio One Atlanta was broadcasting live from the historic neighborhood! Mayor Kasim Reed even joined our jocks for the fun! Check out the photos here!

Kasim Reed walked into City Hall’s familiar Conference Room 2 Wednesday afternoon to jump a new hurdle. The Atlanta mayor usually comes into the room to meet with a sometimes-testy city council. But this time he was met by a man trained in administering rapid HIV tests.

The vote appeared to be a no-brainer for the Atlanta City Council: Approve a multi-million dollar, 50-year lease to rent out the Lakewood Fairgrounds to EUE/Screen Gems and move Atlanta a step closer to Hollywood.

The Atlanta City Council is expected to approve Monday a leasing agreement with EUE/Screen Gems, Ltd., a film and television production company which plans to transform a portion of Lakewood Fairgrounds into the area's first state-of-the-art studio complex.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said Wednesday he will be tough and even sue organizers of any Freaknik-related activities that violate city guidelines. "We will not be caught off-guard," Reed said at a news conference to discuss traffic and public safety plans for several scheduled events in the city this weekend.

A Web site is promoting the return of Freaknik to Atlanta this April, but city officials say there's no permit application and they don't expect the event to happen. "It's not my intention for the city to be supportive of it," Mayor Kasim Reed said. Click here for details.
