Each year college basketball fans are treated to the nationally recognized event called March Madness. Where the nations top teams battle it out on basketball courts far and wide to see who will win there respective conference divisions and advance to the national championships and ultimately see who will walk away with a National Title!
This week in Birmingham, AL at the beautiful Crossplex Arena, some of our most historic HBCUs Men’s and Women’s basketball programs are competing in the SIAC (Southern Intercollegiate Basketball Conference) Conference Championships. Teams include Georgia’s own Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Albany State and Ft. Valley State University. Other Colleges include top ranked Paine University, Benedict, Tuskegee, Fan favorite and locally stationed Miles College, Lemoyne Owens, Western Kentucky, Stillman and Claflin.
Although Basketball is the focal point, the event also highlights entertainment synonymous with the HBCU experience including Step Shows, Live performances, bands and dance teams! DJ Dirty Vegas of Birmingham’s Hip Hop Station 95.7Jamz keeps the crowd moving while Hot 107.9’s REEC Host the highly anticipated Half Time Shows. In game announcer Marque Denmon sets the tone for action packed play!
