Justin Bieber & Usher

Uh oh, Justin and Usher may have to get their checkbooks out.

Justin and his mentor Usher are being sued by Virginia songwriters De Rico and Mareio Overton over Bieber’s “Somebody To Love.” According to the lawsuit, Usher took their version of “Somebody To Love” after they played him the record in 2008.

The judge presiding over the lawsuit has noted that Bieber’s song is very similar to the Virginia duo’s.

“After listening to the [De Rico’s] song and the Bieber and Usher songs as wholes, we conclude that their choruses are similar enough and also significant enough that a reasonable jury could find the songs intrinsically similar.”

Usher and Justin haven’t released statements regarding the impending suit. The lawsuit is still in the early stages, but we’ll keep you posted.
