The Atlanta Falcons released strong safety William Moore and linebacker Justin Durant on Monday. Moore, the team’s second-round pick in the 2009 NFL draft, had two years left on his deal. His salary-cap number would have been $6.5 million next season. Durant, who signed a three-year deal with the Falcons before the 2015 season, had a cap number of about $1.75 for 2016. Both Moore and Durant spent most of last season dealing with injuries. Moore, a one-time Pro Bowl selection, finished the season on injured reserve with an ankle injury after missing games earlier in the season with a groin injury. He played in 11 games this past season after playing in only seven the year before while dealing with multiple shoulder injuries and a foot injury.
