Lil Boosie

After countless years of the hood’s grassroots campaign of “Free Boosie,” the Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie is finally going to be released from prison in a few weeks. Lil Boosie is slated to be released from prison on February 13, 2014.

Plenty of reports initially stated Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch, was going to be freed sometime in August of this year. However, the date was pushed up several months after he completed a substance abuse class. Lil Boosie’s date has been expedited also because of his good behavior. While in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, Boosie also got his GED.

Boosie’s brother Taquari Hatch told NOLA.com, “He has plans to go straight to the studio to begin working on an album as well as his tour.” Taquari Hatch elaborated that the tour would start either late spring or early summer. Although Lil Boosie will be getting out from behind bars, he will still be under the watchful eye of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections until 2018.

In case the four long years he was in prison, Boosie was arrested in 2009 for his third-offense marijuana possession and a violation of his probation. While he was in prison, he was sentenced to eight more years of hard labor after he plead guilty of trying to smuggle drugs into a prison. When Boosie tried to smuggle drugs into prison while he was awaiting trial for first degree murder. He was accused of putting a hit out on a man in Baton Rouge, ut was later found not guilty.

Hopefully, when Boosie is liberated from his jail cell, he’ll keep himself out of trouble.
